Since his retirement from sports, Carl Lewis began to pursue his life-long passion for acting. He has spent the past year studying and perfecting his acting skills so that he can be armed with both talent and experience as he strengthens his presence in Hollywood. Carl relocated to Los Angeles to seriously begin his acting career.

Carl was featured in the TNT movie Atomic Twister, which aired in June 2002 and also co-stars Sharon Lawrence and Mark-Paul Gosselaar. The movie was rated the number one cable movie of 2002. In the movie, Carl plays a courageous security guard. Carl also recently co-starred in a film titled, Alien Hunter. The film, starring James Spader, places Carl, whose character’s name is Grisham, in the South Pole as a Communications officer for the Air Force. Alien Hunter, was shown on the Sci-Fi Channel in 2003. Most recently, Carl finished co-starring in a movie starring Debbie Allen and “The Candyman” Tony Todd, produced by multiple Academy Award Winner John Daly and directed by Don Abernathy, titled Tournament of Dreams. Tournament of Dreams is scheduled for release in 2005.

Carl launched his web site http://www.carllewis.com on March 1st, 2001. The site includes Carl in different acting scenarios, family history, and his sports records. To date, the site has been visited by thousands of people.


Carl Lewis established himself as one of the greatest Olympians of all time. Carl made every Olympic team from 1980 through 1996. His five Olympic appearances are a record for a male athlete. Many of Carl’s Olympic performances were in world or Olympic record time.

Carl devotes a great deal of his time and energy to charity. He founded “The Carl Lewis Foundation,” which serves as an umbrella for the many charities that Carl supports, including the College Fund (formerly known as the United Negro College Fund). Carl helped establish the Wendy Marx Foundation (for organ donor awareness). He is also involved in the “Best Buddies” program as a Bo&d Member. “Best Buddies” integrates people with special needs into society.
